About the role

Our client is an early-stage, product-focused data intelligence company headquartered in Bengaluru - building a modern SaaS platform for fast-growing consumer and digital-first businesses. The platform unifies fragmented data across commerce, marketing, payments, and operations into a single, reliable source of truth, enabling near real-time visibility and actionable insights.

The organization is building a data-heavy, AI-powered product from the ground up and is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its core engineering team. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership, working closely with founders and product leaders to design, build, and scale the core platform.

Role overview

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building and scaling backend systems and data pipelines that power a next-generation SaaS data platform. You will work on high-impact problems involving data ingestion, processing, reliability, and performance, while contributing directly to the evolution of intelligent, AI-driven capabilities within the product.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy working in early-stage environments, value autonomy, and want to see their work directly influence product and business outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and REST APIs.
Build and optimize scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines.
Work with structured and semi-structured data from multiple external systems such as commerce, marketing, payment, and operational platforms.
Ensure high standards of data accuracy, reliability, performance, and security across services.
Collaborate closely with product and leadership teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Build, optimize, train, and continuously enhance in-house AI agents to improve system intelligence and accuracy.
Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to long-term platform scalability.

Basic qualifications

3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in backend software development for SaaS or product-based applications.
Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, or Node.js, with experience building RESTful APIs.
Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity.
Practical experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud Platform in production environments.
Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining scalable services with a focus on reliability, performance, and security.

Preferred qualifications

Experience building or working on data-heavy systems involving ingestion, transformation, or aggregation from multiple external sources.
Exposure to distributed systems, microservices architectures, or event-driven systems.
Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React and an understanding of full-stack application flows.
Experience working in early-stage or growth-stage startup environments with high ownership and ambiguity.
Exposure to AI-enabled or analytics-driven products, including working alongside data science or machine learning workflows.
